How to use the Custom Fantasy Scoring System Feature

In this post we will describe how to input your own fantasy scoring system into SportsMaestro. Once your scoring system has been input, you will be able to apply all of SportsMaestro’s analysis tools to your scoring system, including database queries and stat graphs.

1. Log in to your SportsMaestro Account: In order to use SportsMaestro’s Custom Fantasy Scoring System feature you must have an account. If you do not, please register here, it’s free. If you have an account, login here.
2. Go to the Baseball Web App: http://www.sportsmaestro.com/baseball

3. Click the Fantasy Button: In the button box in the upper left hand side of the page click the FANTASY button. After clicking, the Fantasy Panel should appear. This panel includes a pull down box listing the available scoring systems, Add and Delete buttons, and a display showing the scoring equation for the selected scoring system.

4. Click the Add Button: Click the Add button in the fantasy scoring panel. Once clicked, a window will pop up.

5. Select Scoring System Parameters: From the pop up window, select the parameters you would like for your fantasy scoring system. Make sure you hold down the CRTL button to make multiple selections from the list. Then click the CONFIRM SELECTION button.


For each parameter in your custom scoring system, select a coefficient.

6. Select Scoring System Coefficients: A new window will pop up. In this window, name your scoring system and select the values of the coefficients. When you are done, click the SUBMIT button.


Verify your Custom Fantasy Scoring System

7. Verify: A new window pops up showing the details of your scoring system including the name and the scoring equation. Click the Close button.

8. Select your Scoring System from the Pull Down Menu: Now that your scoring system has been input into SportsMaestro, it will appear in the Fantasy Scoring System pull down list in the Fantasy Panel. Click on the pull down and select your scoring system.
9. Perform your Database Query: At this point you can use the Stat Tables web app as usual to select your filters and perform your query. Once you are ready to execute your query press the EXECUTE button.

13. Generate a Stat Graph: In addition to Stat Tables you can also use Stat Graphs with your scoring system. To do this click on the Stat Graphs tab, then click on the FANTASY button and select your scoring system. Next add a player or two and set the filters to create a graph. Here is a plot of points versus year for Albert Pujols, Prince Fielder, and Mark Teixeira.
